Due to a dense rain forecast by Indian Meteorological Department, Anna University has postponed the semester end exams which are scheduled to begin from December 1, 2016 onwards. According to the latest timetable, the exams will start from December 24, 2016. The cyclone has been named as Nada and might cause heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours.
Similarly, Director of School Education Department, Kannapan has announced that the schools located in Kancheepuram, Chennai, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore and Tiruvallur will remain closed on December 1 & 2, 2016.

It is expected that cyclone Nada will move west-northwards and become severe during the next 12 hours. It might cross the north coast of Tamil Nadu on December 2, 2016.
Following the alarming situation, Anna University has cancelled semester end exams as soon as the announcement came from Indian Meteorological Department. The announcement regarding the postponement of the examination was made by S. Ganesan, Registrar of Anna University. On the other hand, the varsity will remain closed on December 1 & 2, 2016.

Pondicherry University and Anna University postponed the exams last year too due to the stormy weather. Anna University had postponed exams several times due to various reasons. In fact, the varsity had also postponed the 36 th Convocation Day.
Last year, the cyclone devasted Tamil Nadu. Almost all the streets and roads are flooded with water. Most of the public places were damaged due to heavy wind and rain. It took one month for the state to recover from the cyclone effect. In the year 2014, the Cyclone HudHud in Visakhapatnam also caused the similar damages.
