Department of Medical Physics (Anna University) under Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) is organizing a short-term course on Medical Imaging Techniques. The course duration will be between October 30, 2017 and November 10, 2017. The course will be imparted at the Physics Seminar hall at the Anna University campus.
What is Medical Imaging?
Anna University is a technical public university in Tamil Nadu and the main campus is in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The set of techniques to create the visual representation of inner part of the body non-invasively is known as Medical Imaging. Due to advancement in medical imaging technologies, doctors able to detect, diagnose and treat many diseases in its early stages for a lesser cost and more accurately. Therefore, medical imaging technologies are starting new and more powerful generation of diagnosis.
The medical imaging course will provide a basic knowledge for all the participants and provides a scientific basis of the Physical principles underpinning imaging in medicine like:
Mammography | Fluoroscopy | Computed Tomography (CT) |
---|---|---|
Projection Radiography | Ultrasound and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) |
This course will take on a problem-based approach, with emphasis on real clinical systems like system specifications, performance, and quality control.
