Mr. Anupam Kher, the newly elected chairman of the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII Pune) inaugurated the 3rd Kalinga International Film Festival at KIIT on Friday, 3rd November 2017. While delivering his message on the theme of 'don't stop dreaming', Mr. Kher said all dreams always come true provided one realizes them and works towards achieving their goals in life. Moreover, he added that one should work hard with great dedication and concentration towards those objectives.
While elaborating on his career graph, Kher mentioned that cinema is amazing and full of dreams. He dreamt of becoming an actor throughout and never achieved more than 38 percent marks in his educational journey and life. He said he was neither good in studies nor in sports. But what he has today is all because of his hard work and dedication, he said.

The 3rd Kalinga International Film Festival, organized jointly by KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences along with the KIIT Film Society commenced at the KIIT campus. During this three day festival, 25 films of different Indian languages and international were screened. Some of the eminent personalities who were present during the inaugural session included the following:
- Ganga Kumar, Director, Ministry of Planning at Government of India
- Soundarya Sharma, Heroine of ‘Ranchi Diaries’
- Sattwik Mohanty, Director, ‘Ranchi Diaries’
- Dr. Sasmitarani Samanta, Registrar, KIIT University
- Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS
- Mr. Himanshu Khatua, CEO, KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences
During the inaugural day ‘Ranchi Diaries’, a movie directed by Sattwik Mohanty was also screened. Other different films including Chloe from France, Jackpot from Vietnam and some Indian films including Bakul, Onyo Poalaa, Upahar, A World Within Four Walls, Bahurupi, Roadside Scientists, Teorm Kite, Ardhonariswar, The Machine, Statement After My Poet Husband’s Death, Pounopunik, Ishara, Alone, Call Girl, I Am Sorry etc. were also screened during this three-day festival.

Apart from film screenings, forum activities such as theatre performances, fashion shows, interactive quiz sessions, short filmmaking, writing competitions, mono acts, mannequin challenges and photography exhibitions were also conducted during the International Film Festival at KIIT. It was also a host to film-making workshops and photography workshops in partnership with big names such as Canon India.
