Mr. N Chandra Babu Naidu, CM of Andhra Pradesh has invited the State Maritime University of St. Petersburg, Russia to invest in the water transport and naval activities in Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Minister participated in the consultations with the heads of the university during his tour in Russia.
The AP government has also signed a MoU with the University to set up Marine University in Andhra Pradesh. The University will be affiliated to the State Maritime University, Russia. After visiting the university, the CM has signed Memorandum of Understanding. Reputed United Ship Building Corporation will play an important role in the establishment of Marine University.
The president of United Ship Building Corporation opined that the University is planning to set up its headquarters in India. He also mentioned that the state has a unique marine activity which would boost up the marine activities in an effective manner.
The Chief Minister opined that this MOU will be promoting the inland navigation and also the commercial usage of water transport. Water transport is cheaper and best compared to other transport facilities.
About 60% of University's graduates are employed in shipbuilding activity. The university consists of all the facilities for developing the skills in shipbuilding professionals. The same type of University with international standards will be set up in the state. The CM welcomed the University’s decision to have its branch in Andhra Pradesh.
