The Andhra Pradesh Government has granted lands for the establishment of Vellore Institute of Technology , Central Institute of Tool Design and National Institute of Design at Amaravathi, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh. The AP Government is also planning to setup reputed institutions like IIT & IIM at Amaravathi. The government has already laid the foundation stone for AIIMS at Mangalagiri, Guntur District.
The vision of government is to make Amaravathi as an educational hub and to provide quality of education through various reputed institutes in India.
The government will grant 100 acres of land for the establishment of VIT in the first phase. The institute must be able to get 18,000 admissions. If the institute is able to achieve this then another 100 acres of land will be granted for the construction of new buildings which will accommodate more students. The land will be granted on the basis of free land holding. It means the sole property rights of the land will be with the institute.
Similarly, 50 acres of land has been granted for the establishment of NID . The land is granted at free of cost on the basis of lease holding. In the same way, 5 acres of land has been granted for CITD on the basis of lease holding.
It is good to see that the Andhra Pradesh Government is doing its best to develop the new capital of Andhra Pradesh as educational and technological hubs.
