The major reforms introduced by the Board of Intermediary Education, Andhra Pradesh are as follows:
Until now, AP Inter 1st year (Class 11 exam) had boards like Class 10 and Class 12 but the board exam is now scraped for 1st year (Class 11) from next year (2025-26 session).
The primary focus will only be provided to the AP Inter 2nd Year (Class 12) examination and hence public examination will only occur after Class 12 exams.
While the public examination does not occur in Class 11, an internal assessment of 20 marks will be carried out throughout to assess preparation.
The decision has been taken to align with the national standards.
The outdated textbooks and syllabi will be revamped to reflect current academic standards.
The intermediate curriculum will be aligned with national standards for improved quality of education.
For students in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry streams, the biology education will be simplified by merging botany and zoology into a single subject.
The mathematics curriculum will be streamlined from both papers into one to reduce complexity and improve student understanding.
Continuous learning will be encouraged through internal assessments, which will account for 20% of the total marks.
