Leading People's University, Indira Gandhi National Open University's School of Social Sciences, also known as IGNOU SOSS has recently launched a new Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health from the upcoming session.

Eligibility for PG Diploma in Mental Health:

Interested candidates should have completed their post graduation in the field of Social Work or Psychology or Nursing or a medicine related field like Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Allopathy, Unani and Siddha.

Features of PG Diploma in Mental Health at IGNOU:

• Aims at building the capacity of candidates by providing them professional training in the field so that they can cater to the needs of the society further addressing the well-being and mental health of the people in general.
• It would focus on mental health requirements of the people which face a shortage because of lack of trained personnel in the country.
• The programme will be delivered in an Open and Distance Learning mode with the help of multiple platforms such as audiovisual media, self-instructional printed study material, teleconferencing, counselling sessions and interactive radio sessions with the help of Gyan Vani that is the official FM channel of IGNOU dedicated to the students.
• The curriculum and course structure will include topics such as Fundamentals of Mental Health, Disorders related to Mental Health and the Services that can be offered to the mentally ill apart from other course work.
