The Arunachal Pradesh government has released Rs. 53.26 crore as stipend and scholarship for 38,594 students last week to provide some financial relief to the students dealing with financial woes amid coronavirus outbreak. Pema Khandu, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh has said that the state government decided to release the first instalment of the Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) and full assistance under the state stipend scheme for the students.

Arunachal Pradesh government has taken this step to reduce the hardship and help the students who are struggling financially during this time of crisis. The first instalment of the amount worth Rs.23.50 crore has already been released for 20,500 students and each student will get Rs.11,500 as per the official sources. Rs.29.76 was also released as state stipend for 18,094 students and each student will get Rs.16,400 each.

Coronavirus outbreak has impacted the education sector adversely with some of the major national entrance exams - NEET and JEE Main getting postponed due to COVID-19. Educational institutes across the country have been shut and academic sessions are being delayed as the entire nation is under lockdown till May 3 as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of this deadly pandemic. Most of the educational institutes have moved their classes online and some institutes are even completing their admission process - GD and PI virtually.
