While speaking at the inauguration of a WHO cGMP plant, at the Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) in Jammu, Union Minister Harsh Vardhan appealed to the scientists to build a great passion for scientific experimentation and aspire for high thoughts like winning the Noble Prize.

The state-of-the-art WHO cGMP plant is the latest addition to the IIIM. It is supposed to give a boost to the research activities at IIIM. It is for the first time such national cGMP facility has been established in the public sector in the country, the minister said.
With the world-class infrastructure for the manufacture of botanical-phytopharmaceutical, the facility at cGMP would help in different ways. It will help in the efficacy, safety and quality of its products for a global market. It will also offer help to all CSIR institutes engaged in drug discovery and development. Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh also attended the inaugural function.

Functioning under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) is a national institute working on research relating to drug discovery from natural products (medicinal plants and microbial species). It is a multi-disciplinary organisation. The core area of its work is related to medicinal chemistry, natural products chemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, biotechnology and botanical sciences.
