At the second convocation of Amity University Gurgaon Manesar 2016, conferred the Honorary Doctorate Degrees to Global Telecom Leader, Shri Sunil Bharti Mittal- Founder and Chairman, Bharti Enterprises and Shri Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder, Paytm during Convocation 2016
Degrees were also conferred over 862 successfully qualified Graduands of various Programs such as Engineering & Technology, Management, Applied Sciences, Journalism and Mass Communication, Medical Science, Behavioral Science, Languages and Commerce received UG and PG Degrees. Over 120 UG students who have successfully completed their minor paper requirements along with their UG Degrees were also awarded Minor Certificates for proficiency in the areas like Journalism, Animation, Management and Economics.
Graduands, accompanied with their family members and acquaintances, beamed with joy and exhilaration as they went down the memory lane, reminiscing college days while re-uniting with their friends, faculty members and Institution Heads.
Dr. Aseem Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Gurgaon (AUG) declared the Convocation 2016 open.
Welcoming the distinguished luminaries and august gathering, Prof. P B Sharma- Vice Chancellor, AUG presented a brief report of the University in which he touched upon the key achievements and initiatives that have been taken during the year 2015-16 in AUG .
This year’s Convocation was dedicated to the cause of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Start ups and to salute the sterling spirit of the leaders and trailblazers in these arenas, Amity University Gurgaon honoured Global Telecom Leader, Shri Sunil Bharti Mittal- Founder and Chairman, Bharti Enterprises with Honorary Doctorate Degree for techno entrepreneurship and achieving the global eminence in the field of Telecom Sector.

Shri Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder, Paytm was conferred Honorary Doctorate Degree for his accomplishments in the payment eco- system and start up Industry that has touched the lives of millions of Indians.
Delivering his acceptance speech, the young icon Shri Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder, Paytm narrated his journey from being a naïve and young graduate of Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1998 to the Founder of Paytm, which has heralded a revolution in the country.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan - Founder President, Amity said that more than 95% of the men on earth live and die without any aim, mission or vision but Amitians are very fortunate because they know succinctly what is their mission and vision in lives. Motivating and inspiring the alumni, Dr. Chauhan said that Amity is an unparallel fraternity in the entire world owing to its dexterous students and their strong conviction and believe in human values. Dr. Chauhan averred that though the graduands might face problems in their lives but the virtues which have been imbibed in them while studying in Amity will stand them in good stead everywhere and anywhere.
The meritorious Graduands were felicitated with 40 Gold, 38 Silver and 33 Bronze Medals. 12 Trophies were awarded to the students who have excelled in Academics, Sports or co -curricular Activities.
Over 750 graduands from different programmes, smartly clad in beautiful black robes with caps and coloured scarves representing their respective programmes presented a perfect picture of intelligence with human virtues and values.
The university also honored with Honorary Professorship Prof Dariush Rafinejad Founder and CEO of Blue Dome Consulting, Silicon Valley California, Prof Amitabh Chattopadhyay, Outstanding Scientist at the Centre of Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, Prof Ram Shanker Verma, Professor of Biotechnology, IIT Chennai. In absentia, Prof. Debabrata Benerjee - Associate Dean, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Department of Pharmacology, The Cancer Institute of NJ, USA, Prof. (Dr.) Ulrike Zeshan-Director, International Institute for Sign Languages and Deaf Studies, University of Central Lancashire, UK, in absentia.
