La Trobe University , Australia, which is ranked among top 1.4% of world universities, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Kanpur with a motive to open up opportunities for collaborative research projects and joint Ph.Ds. The premier international university also signed a pact with Amity University to facilitate student exchange programme .
Vice Chancellor of La Trobe University, Professor John Dewar, who was in India over the past few days indicated that IIT Kanpur is not only the premier technical institute in India but also in the world. The collaboration with this premier institute will promote joint Ph.Ds and collaborative research projects in different areas such as Synthetic and Medicinal Chemistry with applications in drug discovery and delivery, Bioengineering, Biological Sciences and Materials Science including new polymers and new battery technology, he explained.

La Trobe University, a premier university in Australia offers distinctive and high-quality degrees that will enable the students to understand and engage with the contemporary global issues. The varsity also announced tuition fee waiver of 15% - 25% for UG and PG international students. The scholarship/ fee waiver scheme for international students will commence from mid-2018.
La Trobe University offers scholarship on the basis of merit. Prior academic performance of the students will be taken into consideration for offering scholarships.

On the other hand, Indian students who wish to pursue Ph.D at La Trobe University will have a unique chance of spending up to six months at Melbourne Campus of the varsity during their candidature. After the successful completion of the course, students will be awarded a La Trobe doctoral degree.
The join Ph.D offered by IIT Kanpur and La Trobe University is different. During the course, students will spend 70% of their candidature in India and 30% in Australia. After the successful completion of the course, students will receive a joint degree awarded by La Trobe and IIT Kanpur.
