Top management institute of the country, IIM Ahmedabad is planning to introduce a case study on the much-appreciated movie Baahubali as a part of its MBA syllabus and curriculum . The case study is likely to cover aspects such as the synergy between art, technology and business that led to the success of the film not only in India but abroad as well.
An alumnus of the institute, Mr. Bharath Kandaswamy has been bestowed the responsibility of authoring the case study which will be introduced as an elective course on movie business primarily for the second year students of the flagship PGP in Management course .

Features of Baahubali Case Study at IIM Ahmedabad:
- It would focus on Baahubali - The Beginning & Baahubali - The Conclusion both and at the same time help decode its success mantra. The movie franchise managed to earn over a 1,000 crore overall.
- Case study formulation is expected to be completed in the next four months.
- It will be added to the course which focuses on the Indian film business right from its inception (script writing and selection) till the time it is showcased on the silver screen.
- Phases such as film financing, marketing and promotion, distribution etc. will also be covered under the study.
It is interesting to note here that Kandaswamy himself is associated with a production house named Kavithalayaa Productions that has in the past made popular films such as Roja and Ek Duje Ke Liye. He also launched another course namely the Contemporary Film Industry-Business Perspective in the year 2009.

Similarly, last year in 2016-17, IIM Ahmedabad also added a chapter on how digital entities like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar affect the movie business.
