A total number of 145 female and 58 male students will receive Gold Medals at the 52nd annual Convocation of Bangalore University. The girls have outshined boys once again.
The convocation ceremony of Bangalore University will take place on January 27, 2017. The event will be held at Jnana Jyothi Auditorium. Governor of Karnataka as well as Chancellor of Bangalore University, Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala will grace the occasion as the chief guests. Minister of State Higher Education, Basavaraj Rayareddi will also be present on occasion. The convocation address will be delivered by Prof. Dhirendra Pal Singh, Director of NAAC.

A total number of 42,245 UG and PG students will receive their degrees. B. Thimme Gowda, Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University, revealed that girls have proved their worth once again by securing more gold medals than boys. However, the varsity is not awarding Honorary Doctorate this year. He further added that the varsity appreciates the decision of Rahul Dravid, famous cricketer who denied the Honorary Doctorate.

Apart from gold medals, a total number of 80 first rank holders will be felicitated, and a cash prize will be awarded to 74 achievers.
Among the winners of gold medals, Sowjanya who is pursuing M.A in Kannada will receive eight gold medals. On getting to know more about her, she revealed that her mother was the source of her inspiration. Her aim is to complete the doctorate in the relevant field, and further hopes to clear the UPSC civil service examinations to help the poor students.
