The educational circuit of Patna and the regions nearby witnessed a lot of festivity from February 12th to February14th, on the account of Saraswati Puja. The students from across the colleges, schools, hostels and coaching institutes celebrated the festival at their respective institutes and hostels seeking blessings and enlightenment from the Goddess of Knowledge, Saraswati. The students from Patna Medical College and Hospital held cultural events which included dance and singing performances on the account of the Puja at the college. The festival was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Dr. S.N Sinha.
Patna College and other colleges of Patna University also celebrated Saraswati Puja at their colleges and hostels, with great Pomp and Show. This festival is celebrated to laud the Goddess of knowledge and education, who is also considered to be the daughter of Goddess of strength, Goddess Durga by Hindus. In Eastern India, the day of saraswati Puja coincides with Vasant Panchmi, which is the 5th day of the bright fortnight of the lunar Hindi month of Magha.
Goddess Saraswati - The deity of wisdom, culture and art is worshipped mainly by students across the state and beyond. There is a practice of offering new copies, notebooks and pens to the goddess before taking them further in use. From schools to colleges, and households, people of Bihar worship the Goddess of Wisdom on this day.
