Bihar Likely to Introduce Yoga  Studies in Universities

On Tuesday, 22 July 2019 the Bihar government announced in the state assembly that it plans to consider the proposal of introducing yoga in the universities. They plan to do so in order to bring back the olden practice of spiritual and physical exercises.

Sushil Kumar Modi, Deputy Chief Minister is very positive about this idea. He said that the Bihar government will discuss with the new Governor and take necessary actions to implement this idea.

During the assembly session Bhola Yadav, RJD leader raised a question asking why yoga studies were not introduced earlier and not taught in Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University which was originally set up to preserve the ancient practices. To this, the government replied that there was no such proposition regarding the introduction of Yoga course in universities earlier until now.

However, the government now is ready to include Yoga in the syllabus of the universities. This is the first attempt for the Bihar government in trying to popularize Yoga in Bihar after the reputed Prime Minister, Narendra Modi constant initiatives to popularize Yoga worldwide.
