A model of Formula1 car has been developed by the students of Birla Institute of Technology, Patna. The model was developed by a 23 member team called Thuderbolt and intends to later exhibit it in various inter-college competitions coming up in the next few months.
The whole team of Thunderbolt comprises of 2nd and 3rd year B.E students; and works under the supervision of a faculty member of the mechanical department, Mr. M.A Hassan.The financial expenditure for making the F1 car Model was covered by a sponsorship of Rs 8 Lakhs which was given by different colleges and private organizations of Bihar.
The length and width of the Formula One car model has been kept minimum in order to get the high speeds of the vehicle. A bullet motorbike engine has been used for a quick acceleration. The car is 1.8m long, 1.3m wide and weighs 320 kilograms and it runs on petrol. The Formula1 car model developed by the BIT Patna team, can attain speeds upto 60-70 kmph.
