With an objective to further tap into India’s aerospace industry, Boeing, an American planemaker company is planning to recruit over 800 direct employees in India over the next couple of years.
Currently, Boeing employs close to 1,200 direct employees in India and it is expected to have 1,500 direct employees by the end of 2017. Boeing hires for different job profiles ranging from frontline factory workers to core engineers to human resource executives. On the other hand, Boeing is expecting its partner firms to raise the number of people working on its projects.
Boeing’s Senior Vice President for Human Resources, Heidi Capozzi stated that 1,44,000 employees are associated with Boeing globally. The population at Boeing has grown rapidly and it is time to add more employees, she added. The company is majorly focusing on key target markets and India is one of their biggest markets with immense business potential, Heidi added.

Apart from Boeing, other international aerospace firms are also looking forward to expanding their operations in India. India will become the third largest country in aviation market by 2025. In all, Boeing itself set aspirations to have 25% of its footprint outside the United States.
Since Boeing needs assistance to frame a hiring roadmap, it has collaborated with the following Indian institutes and organisations: -
- Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay
- Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
- National Centre for Aerospace Innovation and Research
- Aerospace Network Research Consortium

India’s Vice President to Boeing, Mr. Pratyush Kumar revealed that the company would play a vital role in the evolution of the aerospace market in India.
