B.Voc courses to be treated at par with Diploma in Engineering and B.Sc degree for the purpose of admission in B.Tech/ BE programmes through lateral entry.
B.Voc courses will be treated at par with Diploma in Engineering and B.Sc degree for the purpose of admission in B.Tech/ BE programmes through lateral entry going forward. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) officially stated that the Bachelor of Vocational courses would be treated equally with a diploma in engineering or B.Sc degree for the lateral admissions into the engineering courses. According to AICTE, the B.Voc is equivalent to a diploma in engineering and a B.Sc degree, especially for the purpose of getting admission in B.Tech as well as BE programmes through lateral entry.
Candidates, who are seeking admission in B.Tech and B.E programmes from diploma background, must have passed three years diploma examination in any of the branches of engineering and technology. If a person seeking admission in B.Tech and B.E programmes after a B.Sc degree, then a candidate must have completed Class 12 and B.Sc degree with Mathematics. Such students can seek admission into B. Tech and B.E courses for the second year admissions, which is also known as lateral admission process of Engineering.
Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech/BE Course through Lateral Entry
For the aspirants who would like to join B. Tech or BE for the second year admission, the eligibility criteria is provided below.
- Candidates, who belong to a diploma background, must have passed the third year or second-year diploma examination with at least 45% of marks. The candidates who belong to categories like SC and ST must have a minimum of 40% of marks to get admission.
- The aspirants who would like to join B. Tech and BE courses after completing B.Sc Degree, they must have at least 45% marks in their graduation. The percentage is comparatively less for the candidates who belong to SC and ST categories. They must have 40% marks in their graduation.
- B.Sc degree aspirants must have completed 10+2 with Mathematics.
- Candidates who have completed a Diploma in Vocational Course are also eligible for admission.
Hence, it is clarified from the AICTE officials that the B.Voc course Will be treated at par with the Diploma in Engineering and B.Sc degree for the purpose of admission in B.Tech/ BE programmes through lateral entry.
