Calcutta University admission process for the 2020 academic year has started. The University of Calcutta has released a notification inviting students to enroll for various undergraduate courses including BA, BSc, BCom, BMus, BBA. Interested candidates can apply at caluniv.ac.in from August 10.

Candidates looking forward to admissions at the university will have to register on the admission portal of the respective affiliated college and proceed with filling up of the application form. College authorities have stated the number of documents and certificates which candidates will have to upload on the website of the college they are applying to. Candidates will have to upload their scanned signature, a scanned photograph, scanned copy of mark sheet class XII boards, age proof, caste, and disability certificate (if it's applicable). The documents will be verified when the students visit the college for securing admissions. This year, the admissions will be done online in order to prevent student unions from influencing the admission process. The admission fee also has to be paid online.
Calcutta University set the syllabus for semester system-based courses last year. The main reason for starting the session early is to provide students with more classes to get sufficient time to complete the syllabus.

Last year, Calcutta University sent a notification to its affiliated colleges to not admit students to undergraduate programmes beyond the sanctioned limit. The university has taken this step to avoid any sort of violence that broke out in 2017 after the colleges denied to register the candidates.
The varsity has informed the colleges to follow the reservation policy of the state government . Sonali Chakraborti Bandopadhyay, CU Vice-Chancellor has decided to inspect all colleges to make sure that they adhere to the rules and do not admit students more than the sanctioned strength.
