Overall exam analysis of CAT 2023: As per the expectations, the average difficulty level across all three shifts of the CAT 2023 paper set by IIM Lucknow was analyzed to be Moderate. However, in terms of the slot-wise difficulty level, Slot (2) was the toughest, and Slots (1 and 3) were comparatively on the easier side On the other hand, in terms of section-wise difficulty level across all three slots, the QA section was the toughest and the VARC section was found to be the easiest.

Verbal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning (VARC)
Comparatively, this section was the easiest among the other two across all three slots. Its slot-wise difficulty level and other highlights as per the student reviews are as follows:
- Slot 1: Easy to Moderate
- Slot 2: Easy to Moderate
- Slot 3: Easy to Moderate
- This year, the verbal ability section was the easiest to attempt compared to the other two sections. The questions were manageable and reading comprehension was easy to read. A total 4 RCs were asked each carrying 6 questions in all the CAT 2023 slots. Furthermore, one major change was found in Slot 2 where candidates were asked to mandatorily attempt one verbal question.

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
Out of all three sections, DILR was the toughest in all slots with its difficulty level ranging from (to be updated) to (to be updated). Its highlights and difficulty level are as follows:

Other highlights
- In all the slots, DILR was on the moderate to difficult side it presented a challenging set of questions to candidates. No questions from Graphs and pie charts were found this year. Questions were overly conditional and candidates had to solve one set of 5 marks to solve all the questions correctly and accurately. Out of the total sets mostly 2 were doable. As per students, the pattern was similar to CAT mocks, and solving questions required efficiency.

Quantitative Aptitude (QA)
As it usually is, the difficulty level of the CAT quant section lies between the other two. As per expert opinions and student inputs, the actual difficulty level for each slot along with major analysis highlights is given here:

Other highlights
- Compared to Slot 1 and Slot 2, the last slot was a bit tough and time-consuming. This year, 'Algebra' carried the maximum weightage compared to other arithmetic. Questions from Algebra were more than 6 in each slot. Candidates with strong mathematical and conceptual foundations must have attempted the questions in the flow. Notably, TITA questions were mostly asked in the paper and Gemotery had fewer questions.
Overall CAT 2023 displayed a fair mix of questions presenting a balanced challenge to exam takers on the conceptual front. Moreover, CAT 2023 was found to be tougher than the last year. Let's hope all your dedication and hard work pays off!
