Experts have analysed the CAT 2021 question paper and concluded that the CAT 2021 cutoff is expected to decline. Fewer choices of the number of questions increased the difficulty level and hence, the cut-off scores are bound to go down this year.

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2021 was successfully conducted on November 28, 2021, in three slots. Candidates will be eligible for admission to the CAT 2021 participating institutes including the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) based on the marks they obtain in the result. As per analyses by experts, the CAT 2021 cut off for admission to the top B-Schools in India might decline this year.

According to the CAT 2021 paper analysis by T.I.M.E, fewer choices in terms of the number of questions made the question paper even more difficult. The leading coaching institute stated that cut-offs are bound to go down this year as the VARC section had lengthy passages and the sets in DILR were cumbersome and time-consuming which led to fewer attempts by the aspirants. Amit Poddar, Senior Regional Head of T.I.M.E., said that the cutoff scores, which is the minimum percentile required in each section to be considered for a call, could be around 85 percentile this year.

Dileep Jaiswal, the co-founder of College Disha, said that the cutoff for unreserved category students could be 80 percentile for IIM Ahmedabad , 85 percentile for IIM Bangalore , and 60 percentile for IIM Kozhikode . He further added that management schools at IIT Madras and IIT Delhi are likely to accept candidates with over 95 percentile in CAT 2021.

The cut off scores of CAT do not assure that candidates will get a call but they comprise the minimum criteria required to get a call from the leading MBA colleges of the country like IIMs, FMS , SP Jain , MDI , etc. The overall cut-offs of these colleges are usually beyond 95 percentile for general category students. Apart from them, to get a call from colleges like IMT Ghaziabad , IMI Delhi , XIM , DSE, and some IITs as well, candidates require around 90 percentile in CAT.

Candidates who score around 85 percentile in CAT 2021 can apply to colleges like FORE School of Management , TAPMI , GLIM Chennai , LBSIM Delhi , IFMR , IMT Nagpur , BIMTECH , LIBA, etc. Those who are expecting to get around 60-70 percentile can look at other MBA entrance exams such as SNAP , NMAT , MICAT , CMAT etc.
