With the current pandemic closing down the nation, the Supreme Court has announced that the class 10th and 12 Exams will now be cancelled. However, since the lockdown had been implemented half-way through the board examinations, few of the examinations had been left out. Keeping this in mind, new passing criteria, marks and grading systems for CBSE Class 10th and 12th board examination are expected to be established.
Based on the updated assessment policy, the CBSE will consider the grading system. Sources have stated all the students who appeared for the CBSE Class 10 Board Exams and CBSE Class 12 Board Exams will now be assessed as per the marks secured by them in the CBSE pre-board exams. However, confirmation from official sources is yet to be made.
As per different media reports, the proposed alternative grading model by the CBSE may look into assessing the students based on their internal marks. On the other hand, it is also expected to witness a grading model that assesses the students based on the scores they secured in the previously conducted exams.

However, the final verdict from the Supreme Court is yet to be released. As the case rests, CBSE may be required to cancel the Class 12 and 10 Board examinations. Currently, proposals have been sent to conduct the exams as and when the current pandemic situation improves or relaxes.

Taking a page out of CBSE’s handbook, other education boards such as ICSE have also announced that they will cancel the respective class 12 examinations as well . As the COVID-19 cases sore to new levels, it is expected to see the final year exams, cancelled. However, no official statements or notification regarding the same have been released.
