CBSE Board Re-issues Answer Sheets Safety Guidelines post Metro Incident

Another strange development regarding the CBSE Board Exams came into light on March 13, 2018. According to reports, the CBSE Class 12 Chemistry exam answer sheets were being transported to the designated centre in the Delhi Metro, without any security.

On receiving the complaints regarding the open transportation of CBSE answer sheets, the CBSE board issued a notice to all the exam centres that such incidents should be avoided. Although all the schools were given guidelines regarding the security of the answer sheets, the CBSE notified the centre superintendents again regarding the answer sheets' safety protocols.

The incident was reported by a commuter who was travelling in the Blue Line metro and noticed that an individual was carrying a parcel comprising answer sheets with the exam and destination details mentioned on it. On confronting the individual regarding the parcel, the commuter – lawyer Tarun Narang – found out that he was an employee of Mata Kasturi Devi Senior Secondary Public School, Najafgarh.

He also found out that the individual was sent out by the examination superintendent to transport the Chemistry exam answer sheets to the CBSE headquarters located in Preet Vihar. Tarun wrote to the CBSE examination controller in this regard asking the board to take appropriate action in this matter.

The board also ensured that steps will be taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future. However, the school responsible for the incident will not be punished because the safety of the answer sheets, that were carried in Delhi Metro, have been verified. The answer sheets were not tampered with and were safe.

Principal of a CBSE school explained the process of transporting the CBSE answer sheets and said that a school teacher personally goes to drop the answer sheets. The principal also added that the school provides a vehicle for the same.
