The date sheets of Class 10 & 12 examinations were released by Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE on January 9, 2017. Usually, the examinations commence from the first week of March. However, due to state elections, CBSE has pushed back the dates by a week. Now, the examinations will continue until the end of April. The delay in the examinations received mixed responses from both teachers and students.

Most of the students claimed that the postponement of examinations would shorten the time which is required to prepare for undergraduate entrance examinations in various streams. Most of these examinations take place in the months of April, May & June. On the other hand, JEE (Main) 2017 examination is going to take place on April 2, 2017, and NEET examination is going to be held in May.

One of the students expressed that they will have only one week to prepare for JEE Main examination. Last year, there was a time span of at least two weeks for the students to focus on the preparation for the engineering entrance exam. Additionally, science students with computer electives will have only two days for preparation.

Another student expressed her concern that the dates of the examinations could have been arranged better and now they do not have enough time to prepare for the entrance examinations. She claimed that is an eight-day gap for Business Studies examination and 19 days for Economics and only a three-day gap for Mathematics examination. She hoped that the dates for Mathematics and Business Studies examinations could be switched.

On the other hand, some of the students expressed their happiness regarding the new schedule of examinations. They indicated that they have more time to prepare for board exams effectively.
