CBSE Class 12 Biology Daily Practice Questions 17 October 2023 : CBSE Class 12 examination 2024 is scheduled to be held in February 2024. Question 1: Multiple-Choice Question

Choose the set of sex-determining chromosomes that indicates the correct sex of the respective organism.

  1. Homozygous sex chromosomes (ZZ) determine female sex in birds.
  2. XO type of sex chromosomes determine male sex in grasshoppers.
  3. XXY condition in humans, as found in Turner Syndrome, determines male sex.
  4. Homozygous sex chromosomes (XX) produce male sex in Drosophila


Question 2: Very Short Answer Type Question

  1. Why should antibiotics not be taken indiscriminately? Give any two reasons.
  2. It is advisable to complete the course of antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor. Justify.


Question 3: Short Answer Type Question

The diagram given below shows the developmental stage of the human embryo. Answer the following questions with reference to it:

  1. Identify and name the human embryonic stage shown.
  2. Mention its exact location in the normal pregnancy of a woman.
  3. Write one function of each of the two parts labelled ‘X’ and ‘Y’.


Question 4: Case-Based Question

There are two different farm lands, one where Bt-cotton crop was cultivated and the other where non Bt-cotton crop (indigenous) was cultivated. Farmers responsible for this experimental cultivation were free to use the farming practices of their choice. During the cultivation period, the data was collected with respect to the amount of pesticide used, water required for irrigation, and at harvesting time, the crop productivity. Based on the data collected, a bar graph was plotted which is shown below.

Answer the following questions:

  1. Write your interpretation, with reason, on the basis of the three parameters plotted in the graph.
  2. Which one of the crops would you like to cultivate in your farm and why?
  3. Which one out of these two crops would a farmer from Rajasthan like to cultivate and why ?


Question 5: Long Answer Type Question

Protein synthesis requires the services of all three types of RNAs, namely t-RNA, m-RNA and r-RNA. Explain the role of each of them during the process of protein synthesis in prokaryotes.
