CBSE has made it clear that all the affiliated schools which come under CBSE will go cashless from January 17, 2017.
CBSE Directs Schools to Accept Smart Cards in Canteens

The schools which are affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have been directed to adopt cashless transactions by accepting smart cards in canteens and tuck-shop. Earlier, CBSE had made it clear that all the affiliated schools which come under CBSE will go cashless from January 17, 2017. These schools will accept fee through e-payment.

According to sources, CBSE directed the schools to use activity sheets to encourage digital payments among the students. These students must at least educate ten people regarding online payments.

Hereafter, the candidates who are appearing for various competitive exams conducted by CBSE can pay the examination fee through SBI Buddy and Paytm. Similarly, CBSE will stop payments through Challan for affiliation from January 2017. Only debit or credit cards and net banking must be used for making payments.

On the other hand, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan which has been a responsibility to train students from Class 9 & teachers regarding online payments must use the service of Guides and Scouts to educate the people on digital payments. The training on digital payments is being given by experts and teachers from computers and commerce department.

Earlier, Prakash Javadekar, HRD Minister directed all the premier institutes and central varsities in the country to adopt cashless transactions. However, Javadekar’s initiative received a positive response from various colleges across the country and more than one lakh volunteers registered for training on digital payments. On the other hand, the initiative received a poor response from central varsities, IIMs & IITs.
