R.K Chaturvedi, Chairman of Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE, announced that OMR sheets of UGC NET 2017 would be evaluated digitally through 'Digi Score'. The examination is going to take place on January 22, 2017. The new initiative Digital-Scoring was used for the first time in the recruitment examination of Assistant Commissioners and Principals of Navadaya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The test took place on December 4, 2016.

So far, Digi-Score has been implemented in three examinations conducted by CBSE, and all have turned out to be was successful. Since the technique worked well initially, CBSE has decided to introduce the same in UGC NET 2017.
Explaining the process, Chaturvedi said that through Digi-Score, OMR sheets will be scanned and the images will be saved to a central server. The data of each examinee is secured in a tamper proof format which saves the time. Introducing Digi-Score has multiple benefits like time saving, cost efficiency, accuracy and transparency.

He further added that the board would experiment the system in UGC NET 2017. The system of digital evaluation will be introduced in other examinations conducted by CBSE in future. Digital evaluation of OMR sheets will not lead to any discrepancies, and the results will be declared in a short period.
CBSE has made all the necessary arrangements for UGC NET 2017 examination and is ready to evaluate OMR sheets digitally.
