The latest CBSE circular has increased the duties of the principals of schools that are affiliated to the CBSE board. In the past few days, the Central Board of Secondary Education has released some circulars for the schools affiliated to it. These circulars aim at making the process of learning and assessment much more interactive and inclusive. CBSE has made it mandatory for the principals to provide pedagogical leadership to the students of their schools.
In a circular that is dated 9th March 2019, CBSE said that pedagogical leaders have the responsibility of supporting learning and teaching in their schools. This also includes leadership that is instructional for the support of classroom teachers in their major role. The duties that adhere to this role are implementing the prescribed curriculum and transforming the methods of learning and teaching by formulating organizational norms that ensure quality improvement continuously.

The role of school principals is now redefined and it requires them to assess the effectiveness of all the learning methods while ensuring that they match the standards that are set by the CBSE board in order to optimize the learning environment for students.
The focus of the principals of CBSE schools will have to be on the methodology and learning process. As a pedagogical leader, the principal has to evaluate the constructiveness of the established methods of learning and assess the outcomes.

The CBSE said that each activity that is taken up by the schools should be necessarily mapped for several academic competencies. They should also provide values and life skills for the students to acquire.
