Students with special needs appearing for Board examination (Class 10 & 12) will be allowed to use laptops or computer to write their board exam from this academic year. As per the reports CBSE has approved to this proposal on Tuesday.
A total of 28.24 students have registered for the board examination. There has been an increase of 2.1% in the number of students from the last academic year. In all more than 7,000 differently abled candidates have registered for the board examinations. 87,000 students are registered with CBSE for class 12 board exam 2018 whereas there has been a drop in the number of students for class 10.

Candidates with special needs - CSWN are required to submit a certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner, recommending the candidates for the use of a laptop/computer facility and also citing grounds and reasons for the same. However, the use of laptops/computers will be allowed only typing the answers and for listening and viewing the questions. The laptops will be carefully formatted and the students will only be allowed to use them once the Centre Superintendent has done the inspection.
Also, the inspection committee is to make sure that the computer/laptop does not have any internet connection to order to maintain the sanctity of the board examination. The candidates will be required to make the request regarding this proposal.

The board has also approved the provision for a reader in case the student with a disability does not want scribe facility and needs a person to read the question paper for him/her.
