CBSE to Accept All Re-evaluation Applications after High Court's Order

The Hight Court of Delhi has directed CBSE to work on all the applications that have been submitted to it by students who are seeking re-evaluation of answer sheets of class 12th board exams.

While hearing the plea of the students, the Justice bench of Delhi High Court challenged the CBSE's notification that stated that the students have the right to apply for scrutiny of 10 subjects only for 10 questions of each subject. CBSE had earlier notified that the revised mark sheet will only be issued if there is an increase of 5 marks in a given subject after scrutiny, which the Court termed as 'arbitrary'.

The bench declared that excessive loss or damage can be caused as far as the petitioners are concerned as they could be denied admissions to colleges of their choice in case they do not fall in the merit declared by it. Hence, it ordered CBSE to conduct re-evaluations without any limitations.

Further hearing on the plea is scheduled next for 26th July 2017.

On 23rd June 2017, Sanjay Jain who is the Additional Solicitor General had informed the court that as the Board has withdrawn from the re-evaluation policy, it would only consider a 'remedial action' if the petitioner points out that a particular answer sheet has not been evaluated as per the marking scheme notified by the CBSE. Later, the Court had directed the CBSE to take into consideration all the cases as applied by the students in this regard.
