CBSE UGC NET on November 19; Online Application to Begin from August

Clarifying the suspense of whether the CBSE will be conducting the CBSE UGC NET or not, officials declared that National Eligibility Test (NET) is going to be held on November 19, under the supervision of CBSE.

The University Grants Commission or UGC cleared that CBSE is going to conduct the exam, even though it had denied doing so earlier. The exam is usually conducted in the month of June or July, however, this year, it has been pushed to November. However, it’s still not clear that whether the exam will be conducted once or twice in a year.

One of the senior officials of CBSE stated that the details regarding the examination will be available online from 24th July and application form for the same will be available from August 1st to 31st.

Basically, the NET examination is conducted twice in a year in the month of July and December for the recruitment of assistant professors in colleges and varsities and for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) throughout the country. NET qualification is mandatory to get recruited as professors in colleges.

CBSE had earlier registered a complaint to the Union HRD Ministry in September last year stating that it was a burden for the body to conduct the exam as their KRA lies in the conduction of exams of school boards, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) etc.

At last, it was concluded that CBSE would be conducting the exam until the NTS which is the National Testing Service is formed in order to conduct all competitive exams.

Sources cleared that CBSE has also advised that the exam is conducted once in a year. The reason behind it is the poor response as on an average 6.5 lakh candidates register for the test whereas only 1.5 lakh candidates appear for it. Moreover, only 3.9% candidates qualify in the exam.
