Central Govt. Approves MBBS Admissions in Two New Medical Colleges in Odisha

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given its approval for the admission to MBBS course in two new medical colleges in Odisha. The two new medical colleges located in Balsore and Balangir will admit students to MBBS course for the upcoming academic session 2018-19. Union Health Minister, Mr. JP Nadda gave an official confirmation in this regard on May 15, 2018.

The Union Health Ministry has approved two schemes of Odisha state government for the establishment of two new medical colleges namely Government Medical College, Balangir and Government Medical College, Balasore . Both the medical colleges will offer 100 seats each in MBBS course.

The two new medical colleges are among five such colleges that will come up under centrally sponsored scheme of medical colleges attached to existing referral/ district hospitals.

With the latest addition of admissions in two new medical colleges, the number of MBBS seats available in medical colleges in Odisha available now is up to 1,050.

Like all states, Odisha state government will also take NEET-UG score or merit for the admission to MBBS course. The national-level medical entrance test took place on May 06, 2018. CBSE will announce NEET-UG results in the second week of June 2018. Once the results are out, NEET-UG counselling process will begin. This year, there is tough competition for MBBS seats across the country.
