Admissions to all Central Universities in all programmes will be conducted online . This will be live from academic session 2016. This step is expected to help students and parents make informed choice regarding college.
Central universities have been asked by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to “initiate urgent steps” and put in place the online admission system. “This will not only ensure greater efficiency but also promote transparency in the functioning of the universities,” UGC Chairman Ved Prakash said in the communication to the Vice Chancellors of all Central universities.
There are 40 Central universities in the the country and they have been asked to make their admission process available online as soon as possible. But it is not yet clear if offline admission process will still be available to the people or not.
Earlier, when this was not the case, cases of students going to court after the publication were not a new scenario. This step is expected to bring such cases to an end as well as to end complaints of irregularities in the admission process.
