CET Cell, Mumbai Postpones Medical Counselling Sessions

The Cell of Common Entrance Test, Mumbai was supposed to announce the counselling schedule on 20 th August’ 16 as the result of NEET i.e. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test was announced on 17 th August’ 16. The delay in announcement of admission schedule has left students agitated. The announcement is postponed till the cell sort out the problem that whether deemed universities should come under the centralised admission process or not.

The counselling process is conducted by the state and the common entrance test cell has asked the judiciary and law department if the accredited universities can be a part of the central admission process or the process should only include private universities.

This confusion was created when a notice was released by the Union Ministry of Health asking CET cell to involve deemed universities too in the process but according to the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of fees and admissions) Act, 2015, deemed universities are never part of the central admission process. Now, the CET cell is waiting for the reply of judiciary and law department to go forward with the counselling sessions.
