Chaudhary Charan Singh University has plans to offer a study of SARS-CoV2 as a part of the one-year diploma in disaster management. The curriculum for the proposed study will be designed by the heads of botany, zoology, and environmental science departments. The university also has plans to include the study of coronavirus in the already existing 3 science courses.

Prof NK Taneja, the VC of the university mentioned that this study of coronavirus will prove to be helpful considering the current scenario. The study material on coronavirus will be added to the new diploma course to be offered within the next two months. It will be a self-financing course for which in-principle approval has already been granted. However, it is yet to get approval from the Academic Council of the university.

The course will be taught over two semesters - studies in land storms, floods and sea storms will be a part of the first semester whereas coronavirus study will be a part of the second semester. The course fee hasn’t been decided yet and it will be decided once it gets the necessary approval. Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCS University), earlier known as Meerut University was set up in 1965 in UP. The university has various schools of studies such as Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences etc. It is one of the leading and the only government engineering college in Western UP. There are also many degree colleges affiliated to CCS University.
