Among the notified rules of regulations of Delhi University, international students applying for various courses should not indulge in ‘sexual harassment’ and ‘substance abuse’. The introductory rulebook of the varsity for international students states that the University of Delhi is a no smoking zone, and does not allow any kind of substance abuse. The rules also reveal that the varsity will take severe action against the students who indulge in sexual harassment or any form of discrimination.

However, these rules are present only in rulebooks and notices of international students, and not for Indian students. The rules also give details about special drive launched to enrol students from various countries of Africa. Recently, the varsity announced that they would look after of the well-being of international students, and ensure safety. For this purpose, the varsity framed various rules or ordinances and further stated that it is the responsibility of the heads of the institutes to implement them.

The varsity did not notify any such kind of rules for Indian students. However, the varsity will take action against the students, who indulge in threatening of teaching or non-teaching staff, participate in physical assault, violate honour, dignity and status of SC/ ST candidates and carry weapons. As per the rules of the varsity, the students must not indulge in any form of corruption or bribery too.
The varsity also clarified that the rules are applicable for both Indian and international students. The varsity does not show any discrimination with regard to the implementation of rules and regulations. The officials of varsity assured that they will provide a protective environment to the students.
