According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chennai is likely to experience continuous rainfall until 10 AM, with conditions expected to intensify thereafter. This announcement follows a rain-soaked night and the IMD’s issuance of a yellow alert across several regions in Tamil Nadu.
The city is forecasted to face persistent and intense rainfall over the coming days, influenced by an active weather system over the Bay of Bengal. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai predicts moderate to heavy downpours with thunderstorms throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of around 32 to 33°C, while the minimum temperature will hover near 25°C.

Here are the recent updates regarding the Chennai School Holiday 12 November 2024-The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, forecasting significant rainfall across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until November 15, 2024.
According to IMD predictions, up to 12.4 cm of rain is expected in 12 districts, particularly within coastal and delta regions.
As per the latest information, Tamil Nadu, along with neighbouring Puducherry, is likely to experience severe rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm from November 11 to 15.
Areas under a heavy rainfall warning include Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, and Villuppuram, as well as the union territories of Puducherry and Karaikal.
