The academic council committee of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) approved new syllabus for plus two courses in the line of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). According to official sources, the new course will be implemented from 2016-17 academic session.
"The new syllabi is aimed to help Odia students fare better in various competitive and national level entrance exams like JEE, CAT, MAT, XAT and other competitive jobs," said CHSE chairman Basudev Chhatoi. "The new syllabi was prepared by syllabus committees on different subjects comprised of senior plus two teachers and subject experts from across the state," he added.
The new syllabus focused on objective pattern questions as in CBSE syllabi while the examination pattern will also be changed accordingly, a senior officer said.
The decision of revision of syllabus in plus two level was taken following an enquiry by the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) about how many students from the state qualified the JEE (Main) and JEE (advance) in 2013-14.
"A fact finding team formed by the higher education department to study the poor performance of state board students in competitive exams suggested a series of amendments including revision of syllabus," said a senior officer.
