CISCE to Revise Examination Pattern of ISC Science Subjects

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is going to revise the examination pattern for all ISC science subjects from 2018. If the question paper pattern is revised, students will have to study the entire syllabus without leaving a single chapter or a lesson. The revision of examination pattern for science subjects will enable the students to prepare effectively for medical and engineering entrance examinations. The extensive study will enable the students to perform well in the entrance examinations.

On August 2, 2017, CISCE conducted a meeting to discuss modalities of implementation of the process regarding the assessment of students. CISCE will share all the information regarding the assessment plan with the schools before implementation. Currently, the process for framing various guidelines for the proposed assessment is underway. The proposed assessment process is only for students in Class 5 and Class 8.

Revising the syllabus is an important aspect in the current scenario. The government is in plans to implement single entrance examination for all streams, sooner or later. Therefore, the syllabus must be prepared at par with the pattern and syllabus of entrance examination. Apart from that, various state level boards are also planning to revise the syllabus in plus two (+2) level to make students capable of qualifying National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) .

On the other hand, ISC and ICSE board is not supporting the moderation policy. According to the board, moderating marks will lead to various problems as the number of students securing above 95% will increase. The board also termed moderation policy as an unfair policy of awarding marks. Currently, the board is waiting for the final decision on the same.
