All the colleges and universities across the country have been closed due to the Coronavirus outbreak and national lockdown. The government has decided to grant 100% attendance to students. The new academic session for universities will start from Septemeber across the nation. It is delayed by two months due to lockdown.
A special committee was constituted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to discuss when and how to start the new session of universities. A report was submitted to seven members to UGC which contains exam-related issues and academic calendar.
As per the reports, the attendance of students has to be recorded during the lockdown. Minimum attendance rule is mandatory to make students eligible to sit for semester exams. Considering the ongoing situation in India, 100% attendance will be awarded to all students.

The reports also said that all colleges across the country should function for 6 days in a week and the new session shall begin from September instead of July according to the current situation. The colleges should also remain open on Saturday as per the committee.
According to another recommendation by the committee, the new session for First-year should begin from September 1st while for second and third-year students the new academic session should begin from August 1.
The committee has also suggested taking internal as well as external Viva between May 16 to May 30 and it should be taken online.
