Community Radio Consultancy and Training Conducted by IIMC
The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) has taken the initiative to provide consultancy and training for setting up and running community radio stations throughout the country. IIMC’s idea is to achieve expertise in the sector and meet the required standards.
The decision was made on the 134th meeting of IIMC held on June 21. The IIMC Executive Council passed ‘in principle’ a proposition to set up a fully equipped facility. The set up will require state-of-art equipment and hiring of experts from the field who can conduct consultancy and training on community radio .
Ajay Mittal, Information and Broadcasting Secretary chaired the meeting and found that there are various licensed organisations that are not able in to work in full capacity because of lack of expertise in content creation and technology which is a must to run the organization.
K G Suresh, DG, Apna Radio said that Apna Radio, IIMC’s own community radio station has been running successfully ever since its inception in September 2005.
