  • Employees of Accenture from across 56 countries have pledged for more than 2,000 hours to help students learn coding and computer science skills.

Computer Science Education Week at Accenture to Promote STEM Courses through Coding

With a motive to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) courses among students, Accenture is organising a Computer Science Education Week to complete 10,000 hours of coding. The session kick-started on December 4, 2017, and will continue until December 10, 2017. The session is being organised by Accenture staff in 56 nations across the world. The session will include computer and coding skill tutorials.

Chief Technology and Innovation Officer of Accenture, Mr. Paul Daugherty revealed that technology is creating massive job opportunities in the current scenario which was not so prevalent in the last five years. Learning coding will also help a student in his/her career, if understood and practiced thoroughly. Furthermore, nowadays, many software companies and firms are looking for engineering or computer science graduates with excellent coding skills, he highlighted.

With a motive to promote coding and computer science skills among the students, Accenture employees from 56 nations across the globe have come forward to devote a total of 2,000 hours. The company announced $10 million to support programmes that would expand computer science and STEM education. Accenture is organising this session or campaign with the support of a coding company.

CEO and Co-Founder of the company, Hadi Partovi pointed that the ‘Hour of Code’ campaign had already led to the completion of 450 million hours of code. The company is further urging the people do an hour of code along with their vital contribution in promoting computer science education.

Senior Managing Director of Accenture Technology Services, Mr. Mohan Sekhar expressed that an hour of code could inspire children to a long lasting journey of technology and computer science.
