The summer internship season that usually begins in April has been impacted due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown in the country. As a result of which, the internships have either been postponed until the end of April or will take place virtually at some of the top business schools.
Some students have witnessed their internships get revoked by the same recruiter at FMS Delhi and some have seen the cancellation of the internships by three companies at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow . Students at IIM Kozhikode , IIM Ahmedabad , IIM Indore, and XLRI have been given deferred joining dates or have been asked to work remotely.

Some companies are also resorting to virtual internships. At FMS Delhi, out of the 211 students placed for summer internships, two have seen their offer getting revoked, some have been asked to join late and some have been given the option to work remotely.
Only one company has cancelled the internship offers for 2 students and most of them are asked to work from home for an initial internship period and later they will be asked to move to the physical location once the situation improves, according to the FMS Delhi placement cell.

So far, domestic internships have been less impacted whereas the international internships are cancelled and the internship duration has reduced from 7-8 weeks to 5 weeks now depending upon the ending of the lockdown. The final placement dates which are usually in May or June are not likely to be impacted much and some may be just deferred.
