BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (BSACIST), Valandur (affiliated to BS Abdur Rahman University ) has launched a new MBA in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Development (IEV) course. Crescent School of Business (CSB) will be offering the course in association with the Crescent Innovation and Incubation Council (CIIC).
AICTE - Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC) has specially designed the MBA IEV course for MBA colleges that have incubators. It is targetted at students who are passionate about building a business and becoming an Entrepreneur. The course aims to impart the correct business skills to the next generation of entrepreneurs. Apart from that, Crescent Institute already offers MBA courses in General Management and Strategy Focus.
MBA IEV is an 'action oriented and outcome-based' course. It includes elective courses, capstone projects, skill certification and Action Learning segments. The students will be provided with the support to help them turn their ideas into businesses and taught how to get patents for their products.
The new MBA IEV course of Crescent Institute is in line with the New Education Policy (NEP) of India, which aims to produce job-creators instead of job-seekers. As per the data available from Startups India, India is the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world. Just from Jan to July 2021, venture capital firms have added a sum of around $17.2 billion to the Indian startup ecosystem. This itself makes MBA IEV a lucrative choice for a postgraduate course.
