Mithibai, NM to not rely on CUET 2024 this year: Two of the leading Mumbai colleges have decided not to participate in the Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET 2024) for admission to UG courses this year. According to the latest reports, SVKM's Mithibai College of Arts and SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies have opted out of the common admission process due to the irregularity of CUET schedules.

Two Top Mumbai Colleges Opt out of CUET 2024
Mumbai is likely to see comparatively fewer participants this year in CUET UG 2024 as Mithibai and NM colleges have decided to consider the Class XII marks of the candidates for admission in their UG courses. The two prominent colleges accepted CUET scores in 2023 but have opted not to follow the same this year. The main reason behind this shift is the clashing of CUET timetable with the admission dates of Mumbai-based colleges. All CUET-accepting colleges had to wait till August 2023 last year to commence the classes. Other colleges in Mumbai already started their academic sessions in June.
However, all other colleges of Mumbai and nearby regions have not reacted to this decision so far but it is speculated that some more institutes might withdraw their participation as well. In the previous year, Somaiya Vidyavihar University of Mumbai had announced accepting CUET scores for admissions in its UG programmes but filled 90% of its seats based on Class XII scores of students before the CUET results were released. This created a major situation of confusion between the applicants. To avoid such a situation again, the colleges are opting out of CUET admission 2024 already and announcing their separate admission schedule.
Despite the fuss, the process for CUET UG registration 2024 is likely to begin by February 19 this year for admission to all central universities UG courses in the country.
