  • UN warns world against hitting 1.5-degree global warming limit, urges immediate action:

The UN, on Monday, said that the world will cross the global warming threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius in the next 10 to 15 years, leading to devastating impacts of climate change. In order to limit the 1.5-degree global warming, green gas emissions must reach their peak by the year 2025 and go down by 43% by 2030, warned IPCC.

  • US condemns attack on Indian Consulate in South Francisco:

The United States strongly condemned the attack on the Indian Consulate in the city of San Francisco after a group of pro-Khalistan protestors stormed the premises. After wreaking havoc inside the premises, the protestors were also seen installing Khalistani flags, later taken down by consulate personnel.

  • Modi-Kishida meet unveils new Indo-Pacific plan, announces India-Japan tourism exchange:

A meeting between PM Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida reaffirmed commitment to a stable, prosperous Indo-Pacific plan as the latter announced $75bn to bolster the country’s free and open Indo-Pacific (FOIP). The duo also announced the India-Japan tourism exchange based on the theme of ‘connecting the Himalayas to Mt. Fuji’ in the year 2023.

A day ahead of the Delhi Budget, AAP Leader and Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal writes to PM Narendra Modi, requesting him not to stall the budget. This came after the Centre sought clarification from the Delhi government on why the expenditure on advertisements has surpassed that on infrastructure before giving a go-ahead.

  • Unseasonal drizzle in parts of Mumbai, Delhi boosts air quality, brings down mercury:

Incessant rains in several parts, including Mumbai and Delhi led to pleasant weather and brought the mercury down three notches below normal. The untimely rain also has improved the AQI of the metro cities to a great extent. Parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh also received bouts of rain in the past 24 hours.
