Ghaziabad’s Riya Singh has brought glory to the Dalit community by acing the entrance exam of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) . Riya plans to pursue Ph.D. in Women’s Studies from the Mumbai campus of TISS.
She graduated from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi . Riya talked about her journey as a student and said that she cleared an exam even to get admission at the undergraduate level.
She pursued M.Phil from Ambedkar University and did her post graduation from TISS. Riya said that her educational journey has not been easy as she faced discrimination from fellow students. She believes that determination is the only reason behind a student’s success.

Riya also talked about her aim and said that she wants to pursue Ph.D. to reach out to places where people from the Dalit community have been deprived of their basic rights. She also wants to help the children from the Dalit community to pursue proper education.
Riya wants to teach at some institute as professor and wants to prove that the Dalit community is neither weak nor illiterate. Riya also writes about the oppression of her community on various websites. Her family hails from a small village in Uttar Pradesh.

In another astonishing success story, Kalprit Veerwal, a Dalit student, topped JEE Main 2017 exam by scoring a perfect score i.e. 360/360 marks. This was the first time that any student has scores 100% marks in the JEE exam.
