According to the UGC directives, educational institutes as well as colleges affiliated to various universities can start providing Ph.D. program in AYUSH disciplines to stimulate research in this field. To facilitate these new programmes, the central government has also set up five autonomous research councils. These councils will provide aid and promote research opportunities in this domain through Ph.D. fellowship programme.
The government has also stated that they plan to sponsor 200 students under these Ph.D. programmes. Out of these, 125 PG students will be from AYUSH while the other 75 PG students will be from Science & technology.
DAVV has all the required resources including infrastructure and faculty members to facilitate these programmes. However, there are a few conflicts regarding the state government direction to deliver all medical courses to Madhya Pradesh Medical Sciences University (MPMSU) Jabalpur. As a result, DAVV is restricting the administration to conduct entrance test for these AYUSH disciplines.
