After receiving requests from various quarters, the Delhi University has decided to extend its application process for undergraduate admission till 22nd June. Originally the last date to fill application forms was on Sunday, 19th June.
For the first time the university was implementing a complete online procedure for admissions to its undergraduate programmes. Taking account of the problems faced by students and requests from various quarters, the university decided to prolong the process.
A Senior University Official stated, "The online registration for the candidates applying for undergraduate courses shall continue till 5 PM on June 22. However, those candidates who have confirmed their registration till then shall be permitted to pay the fee till midnight.”
So far Delhi University has received more than 3.4 lakh applications from across India while the number of seats offered by the DU for its numerous undergraduate programmes is about 60,000.
Out of these 3,41,700 applicants 2,31,586, have already paid the fee till 6 PM on 19th June, reported the official.
In 2016, the number of female candidates who have applied is 1,12,371 while the number of male candidates is 1,19,204. 1,118 from PWD category and eleven candidates from others category have applied for admission said the official.
Until 2015, the admissions process was both online as well as offline. The online registration process started on 1st June. Various Open Day sessions and radio help was provided to students and parents for successful online application submission.
