Nearly, 6,700 students who have passed HSC supplementary examinations are finding difficult to seek admissions for various degree courses in Pune. Unlike FYJC, there is no Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for degree admissions. The admissions for the degree courses are being conducted by the colleges directly. The fresh pass outs are finding it difficult as they have to contact each and every college and check for available seats.

The main problem is, no statistics are available with varsity or higher education department regarding the number of vacant seats for degree courses. The officials of the higher education department said that it is the responsibility of Savitribai Phule University to take the decision of degree admissions, and the department is not concerned with it.

The officials of the university said that steps will be taken not to repeat the same scenario next year. However, for this year the students have to go to each college and check whether there are any vacant seats.
The principals of various colleges said that they have very less number of vacant seats and more applications. They opined that the university has to allow five to ten percent additional seats to accommodate fresh pass outs.
